Elevating vegan food production with G.Mondini
ABOUT FOOD FOR FREEDOM
Food for Freedom, the company behind the well-known vegan brand De Hobbit, is a family-owned producer of organic and vegan products such as tofu, spreads, hummus, tempeh, seitan and more — all entirely free from animal protein.
The company’s roots date back to the 1970s, and since 1983 De Hobbit has been a recognised name in organic meat substitutes, starting with tempeh made from fermented soybeans. Over time, the range expanded to seitan, tofu, and products made from lupin beans and hemp. Today, Food for Freedom produces more than 40 vegan foods, including salads, spreads, and burgers.
After 25 years working with their first G.Mondini line, the company decided to upgrade to a more flexible and higher-capacity system to support growing production needs.
The new solution includes a
Vertical Denester,
Doser,
TRAVE® 350VG traysealer
with Snap-on Lid system.

“We’ve been working with our first Mondini line for 25 years. It was time to change the machine — not because of its age, but because we needed higher capacity, better handling of liquid products, and more flexibility.
When we replaced the line, we didn’t consider any other supplier. Why would we? The Mondini line has proven to be very reliable, and the after-sales service is experienced, solves any problem that might occur, and is fast in its response.”Food for Freedom
THE PROJECT
Food for Freedom first discovered G.Mondini in 2001 while scanning the market for a traysealing solution. When the time came to replace their long-running Mondini system, the team did not evaluate any other suppliers — the reliability of the existing line and the strength of the after-sales service made the choice immediate.
The new project consisted of a complete G.Mondini line: Vertical Denester, Doser, TRAVE® 350VG traysealer with Snap-on Lid system. This configuration supports the company’s need for higher capacity, improved performance on liquid products, and greater operational flexibility.
Installation and commissioning were well managed across FAT, delivery, set-up and operator training. The new line now supports Food for Freedom’s expanding production with increased capability and a trusted service partner behind it.
The company confirms that, should a future upgrade be required, it would again choose a G.Mondini system.
