Building the future of poultry production

Inside Baiada’s next-generation Tamworth facility, where scale, automation and long-term investment are creating a more connected, future-ready operation.

Baiada’s new Tamworth facility marks an important step forward in the evolution of poultry production in Australia.

It’s part of a broader $300 million-plus investment to expand production capacity and develop next-generation facilities across New South Wales — designed to meet the future needs of Baiada’s business, customers and consumers.

From the outset, the ambition went beyond simply increasing output. The goal was to build a highly automated, integrated facility capable of delivering greater consistency and efficiency, upholding high product quality standards, and providing the flexibility to grow with the business.

“When we began planning the new Tamworth facility, our focus was on creating an operation that could support the next generation of our business. That meant looking at how infrastructure, automation and technology could work together to improve consistency, efficiency and flexibility.

Our long-standing relationship with G.Mondini, together with the performance of their systems across our existing operations, gave us confidence in choosing their technology for Tamworth.”

Starting from scratch also gave Baiada the chance to rethink how people, technology and infrastructure could work together across the operation. Automation has been woven throughout the site, creating a more connected processing environment and reducing complexity at key stages of production.

Packaging is one part of that broader system. For Tamworth, Baiada selected six G.Mondini Trave® 1400 Streamline tray-sealing systems — building on a partnership with G.Mondini that spans more than 15 years, with over 30 of its tray sealers already in operation across Baiada’s Australian facilities.

The scale of this installation is significant: G.Mondini describes the six-system configuration as a world-first for the poultry industry.

For Baiada, though, what matters most is how the pieces come together. Tamworth unites infrastructure, automation, processing capability and packaging technology within a single integrated operation — reflecting Baiada’s long-term commitment to Australian food manufacturing and to building the capability the future demands.

As customer and consumer needs continue to evolve, facilities like Tamworth will help Baiada operate more efficiently, respond faster to change, and keep supplying quality Australian poultry to families nationwide.

For G.Mondini, the project is a milestone in its long-standing relationship with Baiada, and a chance to bring its technology to one of Australia’s most advanced poultry processing operations.

For Baiada, it’s one part of a much bigger ambition: continuing to invest in the people, infrastructure and technology needed to help feed Australian families for generations to come.
