Processed Meat
Processed meat is considered to be any meat which has been modified in order to either improve its taste or to extend its shelf life.
Methods of meat processing include salting, curing, fermentation, smoking, and/or the addition of chemical preservatives. Processed meats can include ham, sausage, bacon, deli meats (such as bologna, smoked turkey and salami), hot dogs, jerky, pepperoni and even sauces made with those products.
The global processed meat industry is experiencing massive growth mainly due to increasing demand for ready-to-eat meat products owing to hectic lifestyles and busy schedules, along with increasing working professionals. Moreover, rising urbanisation and per capita income may fuel the growth of the global processed meat market.
